VBS 2009: "Light of the World"

was a great success!  Thanks to all who attended, taught, shepherded and enjoyed the week with us! We will studied four Bible stories having to do with light--Gen 1:1-3 "Let there be light," Gen 9:13 God's covenant with Noah in the rainbow, Gen 15:5 "Look up at the heavens and count the stars..." God's covenant with Abraham; and finally Matt 5:16 "You are the light of the world."  To really make our Bible learnings come to life, we did all kinds of amazing projects and activities.  We made rainbow bread and cut stars from fruit, we made star-shaped candles and measured the distance between the planets in toilet paper! We also had a visit from the Build-It Bus, where we made kaleidoscopes with wood pieces, mirrors, and shrinky-dinks.  The kids are still talking about it, and so are the grownups.
